On Thursday 16th October 2014, Level 3 year 2 Travel and Tourism Students from Sussex Coast College were welcomed by Haven Holidays to spend some time at their Combe Haven Holiday Park.
The students were introduced to the reception and reservation staff, who explained their job roles and responsibilities to the students. They gave details of their seasonal duties and the structure within the holiday park.
The students then toured the entertainment complex and met the ‘Funstars’ team. The Funstars answered the students’ questions regarding some of the employment and welfare issues that affect holiday park staff living on the park. They also explained the Haven recruitment process, all of which the students will need to complete their current assignment.
After exploring the holiday park, the students were introduced to the housekeeping manager, who explained the importance of health and safety when cleaning and maintaining holiday accommodation and described how they prepare accommodation for arrival.
Finally the entertainments team surprised the students with all their ‘characters’ from The Seaside Squad, Bradley, Rory, Greedy, Ned, Polly and Anxious, who provided a really fun photo opportunity.
Student Georgina White said ‘We had a fantastic day! Thanks to all the staff, who have really helped with our Holiday Park assignment.’
Reception Manager Hayley Pilcher said ‘We were delighted to have the Tourism students visit us for the day and be able to give them an insight into working on a holiday park.’
