Sussex Coast College Hastings is offering a brand new course to help International students prepare for a Secure English Language Test (SELT).

(1 minute read)

The SELT exams are a requirement for anyone looking to gain a Visa or citizenship in the UK. Part of the Visa process states that students, who have moved to the UK to study, must successfully complete the exam before enrolling on an educational course at college or university.

There are a number of accredited SELT exam centres in the UK accredited to British Council and Trinity College London, but the nearest centre to Hastings is in London.

The college has recently become a SELT preparation centre by Trinity College London and aims to give students from all over East Sussex an opportunity to prepare for the exam before they travel to sit the test.

Jeremy Oughton, Head of International Business Development at Sussex Coast College, said: “We want to give students the help and resources to prepare for the SELT exam. Whether they’re studying the GESE (Graded Examinations in Spoken English) or ISE (Integrated Skills in English) tier, we’ll be able to teach them everything they need to know, giving them the best possible chance of passing.”

“The exam would prove to be difficult to pass without any prior knowledge, so we want to make sure students are well prepared and that their journey to London isn’t wasted.”

The course is available to join on a roll-on, roll-off basis and students can study for six hours a week, spread over three days, costing £50.

There are a number of different requirements for each of the Visa applications so please check the Trinity College website or see below for a full list of which exam you may need.
