Lucy McDonald (pictured) was delighted to achieve two A grades in Biology and Psychology, along with a B grade in Law and is now heading to Norwich to study Paediatric Nursing, with the ambition to transfer into Medicine. 'I am absolutely overjoyed with my results', said Lucy, 'and so grateful for all the support I received at the College, which I would recommend to anyone wishing to study A-levels.'
Continued A level Success for Hastings Students
Students from Sussex Coast College Hastings are celebrating today after achieving outstanding results in their A level studies.
This year, final year A level students achieved a 100% pass rate from 217 entries. Over the last three years, A level students from Sussex Coast College Hastings have achieved a pass rate of 99.4%, with 70.3% grades A* to C and 42% grades A* to B.
A2 Students achieved an amazing 100% pass rate.
'These consistently outstanding results have been achieved by employing the best teachers and effective teaching strategies from schools and 6th form colleges across the UK', said Jim Sharpe, Head of Academy 6. 'We have shown for the last three years that we are achieving our goal of being the first choice A level destination in Hastings & Rother. Our learners and teachers have worked extremely hard for this success and we are delighted with their achievements. These results means they can move forward into the future they deserve.’
A-level student Sean Adams, with one A*, two A’s and a B in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Psychology and Economics will be studying Mathematic with Economics at Sussex University from September. 'I really enjoyed my time at Academy 6 and greatly appreciate the effort that all the teachers put in for me. I hadn’t thought I could ever achieve such high grades', he said. Another A-level student, Damien Robinson, has secured a place at Bath University to study Psychology, thanks to achieving a highly impressive two A*’s, one A and a B in Psychology, Law, Biology and Philosophy. 'I am obviously pleased to have secured my place', said Damien, 'and want to thank all the staff at the College for their help over the two years'. Suzan Ozkan will be starting a Zoology degree at the prestigious Exeter University, having achieved two A grades in Biology and Chemistry, along with a National Diploma. 'I really appreciate the fact that staff at the college are very approachable and supportive. Particularly they regularly took the time to help me outside lessons, which makes a big difference. This definitely helped me to succeed'.
The results confirm Academy 6, the College’s A level and International Baccalaureate division, as the top-performing destination for A levels in the Hastings and Rother Area, with the widest range of subjects. A recent survey by ALPs (Advanced Level Performance System) placed Sussex Coast College in the top 5% of UK colleges for value added at A level.
Sussex Coast College Hastings has seen a massive increase in applications for A level courses over recent months and is about to start enrolments for the new academic year.
