You will need a minimum of: To apply for this course you will need to meet the minimum requirements and have a Grade 6 in GCSE English Literature.
What will I learn?
If you love to read and enjoy exploring texts in depth, this is a golden opportunity to gather with like-minded people to share ideas and interpretations.
During the course you will learn about:
- Works from different time periods and from contrasting genres
- How the writer uses literary and narrative techniques to construct meaning
- Critical approaches to literary texts
You will be introduced to a wide range of plays, novels and poetry, and discover some of the critical theory that can be used to explore different meanings and interpretations of texts.
You will also learn how to place texts within the historical and cultural contexts that they were written. The course will sharpen your analytical skills as a critical reader for future studies.
What could I progress on to?
Completion of this course may facilitate access to employment as an English teacher, journalist, publisher or a degree in English.
