What entry requirements do I need?
You will need a minimum of: 5 GCSEs grade A*- C (grade 4 - 9) including English and maths, or a relevant Level 2 qualification. A portfolio of artwork is also required.
What will I learn?
During this two-year course you will be able to acquire all the skills your need for an exciting career in the world of digital game production.
This course will give you the opportunity to develop the skills and critical thinking of an artist within a highly creative media environment. We will have gained the skills you need to meet the creative challenges that exist at university and in the workplace.
During the first year of the course you will develop a broad understanding of digital media, with a big focus on computer game design and construction. You will be able develop your technical ability in the virtual world to design and make 3D models of sets and characters, as well as research and plan concepts for games. Throughout the rest of the course you will be able to learn about audio production, film editing, and the details and components of interactive media.

- 3D modelling
- Interactive media
Your assessment will consist of 9 projects in the first year and 4 projects in the second year. These projects will consist of practical work, coursework and research projects, culminating in a final project at the end of each year. Your work will be internally marked and externally moderated by our examining body UAL (University of the Arts London).
What could I progress on to?
Once you have completed this course you will have achieved the equivalent of 3 pass grades at A-Level which will enable you to progress to onto BA (Hons) degree courses in Animation or Illustration, or start a Computing and Systems Development course, all of which are available to study at the University Centre Hastings.
There are a number of career opportunities available to you in the world of computer game design such as: a game designer, animator, Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) artist, or concept artist for games.
You may be required to purchase your own materials such as sketchbooks, pens, paints, brushes, and memory sticks. As a SCCH student you will be able to get 10% off in our Plaza Art Shop. You may also have the opportunity to attend a number of trips and visits which may incur additional costs.
