What entry requirements do I need?

You will need a minimum of: GCSE English and Mathematics Grade C and either: UCAS tariff - 120 points, Strong performance in relevant A-Level subject / adequate performance in more than one A-Level subject, Advanced GNVQ, BTEC Extended Diploma in Business, Access to higher education Certificate awarded by an approved Further Education provider, For international students: IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in writing skills, Common European Framework of reference (CEFR) Level B2, Those without formal qualifications but with the appropriate work experience are encouraged to apply

What will I learn?

You will be assessed by a carefully selected mix of assignments, presentations and in-class tests.

The Business Higher National Certificate (HNC) and Diploma (HND) have a strong work-related emphasis. With that in mind, the course provides you with a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the sector. The course is designed for those who prefer more practical and vocational perspective than a traditional degree course, and offers a nationally and internationally recognised award after two years of study. It appeals to employees working in a Management role where they can relate their experience for completing assignments. A large proportion of our students use the qualification as a springboard onto a final year top up degree here or at other universities.

The qualification is awarded by Pearson’s, one of the leading examining and awarding bodies in the UK and throughout the world.

What could I progress on to?

On successful completion of the HND Diploma you can move onto the BSc (Hons), here at Sussex Coast College to complete the full degree. Or you could move into business roles including, Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Retail, or Management trainee. Or you may be able to use your qualification to gain a promotion in an existing job, moving into Management roles.

Sometimes it can be difficult to decide the right level at which to study. The guide below will help you work which level is best for you.

Entry Level

These courses are for students who want to start progressing up the qualifications levels or have no previous qualifications.

Vocational Level 1

You must have a mixture of grades E to G at GCSE to study at this level.

Vocational Level 2

You must have two grade D's and two grade E's at GCSE or a relevant level 1 qualification to study at this level.

Vocational Level 3

These courses are equivalent to A levels, you must have at least four GCSE's at grade C or above or a relevant level 2 qualification.

A Levels

A levels are level 3 courses, you must have or expect 5 A-C grades at GCSE level including Maths and English.
Foundation Degree and Degree Our university courses typically require a relevant level 3 qualification or 120 UCAS points.
