What will I learn?

The qualifications in Management and Leadership are designed for practising middle managers and those aspiring to senior management who want to develop their core management skills such as managing resources, recruitment and information management. These qualifications focus on the personal development of the individual learner’s management capabilities and competencies, also for middle managers aspiring to be senior managers to improve personal management capabilities through effective decision-making and strategic leadership.

Level 3 Provides the skills to effectively develop anddeliver successful coaching and mentoring,with the techniques to enable individuals andteams to achieve organisational objectives.

Levels 4 & 5 Enhance skills further by enabling managers to identify the links between coaching andmentoring and their application in achievingstrategic organisational objectives.

Typical units include: Conducting a management project, Planning for development, Operational risk management, Ethical organisational management, Managing ideas and innovation

Assessment is normally via practical work-based assignments. This ensures you minimise time away from work and that you undertake work study which is relevant to your own organisation’s context.

What could I progress on to?

On successful completion of a qualification in Coaching and Mentoring, a number of progression opportunities become available: Enhance your professional status by upgrading your CMI membershipProgress to other qualifications at the same level (e.g. from Level 5 Award to Level 5 Certificate etc.) Progress to other qualifications at the next level; Apply to become a Chartered Manager

This is ideal for people who are already working within a managemet context, or would like to move into management. This qualification provides an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge to further your career within your current organisation, or to upskill yourself and prepare for a career change.

Sometimes it can be difficult to decide the right level at which to study. The guide below will help you work which level is best for you.

Entry Level

These courses are for students who want to start progressing up the qualifications levels or have no previous qualifications.

Vocational Level 1

You must have a mixture of grades E to G at GCSE to study at this level.

Vocational Level 2

You must have two grade D's and two grade E's at GCSE or a relevant level 1 qualification to study at this level.

Vocational Level 3

These courses are equivalent to A levels, you must have at least four GCSE's at grade C or above or a relevant level 2 qualification.

A Levels

A levels are level 3 courses, you must have or expect 5 A-C grades at GCSE level including Maths and English.
Foundation Degree and Degree Our university courses typically require a relevant level 3 qualification or 120 UCAS points.
