Edexcel L3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching & Learning in Schools

What will I learn?

This course is suitable for anyone working as a teaching assistant or looking for employment at a school and seeking a formal qualification.Students are responsible for finding their own placements if they are not already in employment. This should be for a minimum of one academic year and two full days each week. The tutor will discuss this with individual students.All students should have a good level of English and maths.

  • You will learn about communication and how to form professional relationships with children, young people and adults- You will learn about schools as organisations- You will understand child and young person development- You will learn how to safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people- Your tutor/assessor will help you choose other specialist units to study in regards to the needs of your workplace

You will be assessed on an externally verified portfolio of evidence, which will consist of:- Workplace assessments- Assignments- Professional discussions- Work related projects- Independent study/research

Entry Level

These courses are for students who want to start progressing up the qualifications levels or have no previous qualifications.

Vocational Level 1

You must have a mixture of grades E to G at GCSE to study at this level.

Vocational Level 2

You must have two grade D's and two grade E's at GCSE or a relevant level 1 qualification to study at this level.

Vocational Level 3

These courses are equivalent to A levels, you must have at least four GCSE's at grade C or above or a relevant level 2 qualification.

A Levels

A levels are level 3 courses, you must have or expect 5 A-C grades at GCSE level including Maths and English.
Foundation Degree and Degree Our university courses typically require a relevant level 3 qualification or 120 UCAS points.
