BSc (Hons) Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (Top Up)
What entry requirements do I need?
You will need a minimum of: Successful completion of an HND or Foundation Degree or equivalent accreditation (240 CAT points); if English is not your first language, an IELTS score of 6.5 with a 6 in writing; proof of qualifications; a satisfactory reference.
What will I learn?
Our Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering top-up course has specifically been designed to help you achieve a full BSc (Hons) degree in this specialism. You will build on the knowledge and skills you have attained from previous study and expand your learning of mechanical and manufacturing processes with imaginative and interesting lectures.
You can study this top-up course full-time for one year, or part-time for two years, but either option will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and applications of engineering, and the skill base of an Incorporated Engineer.
You will be free to explore and develop skills in a range of engineering disciplines, using your creativity to solve problems, while paying particular attention to codes of practice, safety, the environment, and limitations of particular methods.
During your top-up degree you will learn how to interpret mechanical engineering design and create computer models for simulation and analysis. You will also learn methods of complex stress analysis and how structures react and respond under load. You will work with your fellow engineering students to identify and propose an innovative approach to problem solving. You will analyse the market, assess the needs of the business and then evaluate your approach detailing how you have applied your knowledge. Your final project will allow you to put all your learning into practise as you demonstrate the skills you have learned and put them into practice as you undertake a practical project in association with a local employer.
