What entry requirements do I need?

You will need a minimum of: 4 GCSE's A*-C and grade 4-9 Including English, Maths and science subject or Equivalent Qualification

What will I learn?

This course is perfect for you if you are passionate about beauty therapy and have an enthusiasm for helping people look their best and help them to feel good. We will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to pursue a career in beauty therapy.

During the course you will learn:

  • Ensuring responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety
  • Promoting additional products or services to customers
  • Developing and maintaining effectiveness at work
  • Salon reception duties
  • Providing facial skin care treatment
  • Enhancing the appearance of eyebrows and eyelashes
  • Waxing services
  • Manicure services
  • Pedicure services
  • Make-up services

The course is fast-paced and keeps up with the changing trends in beauty therapy industry. The qualification will give you the foundation for you to start your career in the industry. The course is a mixture of practical salon sessions and theory.

75% practical, 15% coursework and 10% Exams. Practical assessments are carried out on paying clients in our commercial salons. Essential knowledge is covered through project research, case studies, written/practical assessments and online exams.

What could I progress on to?

Possible progression onto Level 3 Technical Beauty or Level 3 Technical Spa therapy.

You may wish to start your careeer in the industry as a Beauty consultant, Beauty therapist or Skin care specialist.

Uniform (approx. £60) and kit (approx. £300) are required. Course fees and registration fees may be applicable for students over 19. Plus £40 for trips & visits.

Sometimes it can be difficult to decide the right level at which to study. The guide below will help you work which level is best for you.

Entry Level

These courses are for students who want to start progressing up the qualifications levels or have no previous qualifications.

Vocational Level 1

You must have a mixture of grades E to G at GCSE to study at this level.

Vocational Level 2

You must have two grade D's and two grade E's at GCSE or a relevant level 1 qualification to study at this level.

Vocational Level 3

These courses are equivalent to A levels, you must have at least four GCSE's at grade C or above or a relevant level 2 qualification.

A Levels

A levels are level 3 courses, you must have or expect 5 A-C grades at GCSE level including Maths and English.
Foundation Degree and Degree Our university courses typically require a relevant level 3 qualification or 120 UCAS points.
