Level 3 Beauty Therapy

What entry requirements do I need?

You will need a minimum of: Subject to meeting specific entry criteria -A full Level 2 Beauty qualification – Paper assessment, Trade test, good attendance and positive reference .

What will I learn?

During this one-year advanced course you will learn the more complex side of beauty treatments and theory, giving you a more in-depth knowledge of the industry.

Building on your knowledge from the Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification you will be able to go deeper into the theory behind beauty treatments and be introduced to more advanced techniques. You will be able to understand the aging process and learn how to perform anti-aging face and body treatments, you will be able to care for certain skin conditions, and learn more advanced hair removal techniques. You will train in Swedish body massage, how to carry out spray and cream tanning, and gain a commercial understanding for running a salon, including planning and implementing promotional events.

Units and treatments you will cover consist of:

  • Advanced face and body electrical treatments
  • Epilation treatments
  • Swedish body massage
  • Spray and cream tanning
  • Planning and implementing promotional events
  • Monitoring procedures to safely control work operations
  • Face and body analysis

By the end of the course you will be able to deliver a diverse and advanced range of beauty treatments to clients. You will have built up significant experience, developed excellent customer service, and learned supervisory skills to enable you to start your career.

Your assessment will consist of 70% practical tasks, 20% coursework and 10% exams. Practical assessments are carried out on paying clients in our commercial workshops. Essential knowledge is covered through project research, case studies, practical and written assessments and online exams.

What could I progress on to?

This course is the perfect starting point for you to continue your training onto advanced studies such as the Level 3 Technical Diploma in Beauty or Level 3 Technical Diploma in Spa Therapy.

There are a number of career opportunities available to you in the Beauty Therapy industry such as: a Beauty consultant, Beauty therapist or Skin care specialist.

During the course you will be required to wear a uniform, which will cost approximately £60. You will also be required to purchase your kit for the year which will cost approximately £300. You may also have the opportunity to attend talks and visits throughout the year which may incur additional costs.

Entry Level

These courses are for students who want to start progressing up the qualifications levels or have no previous qualifications.

Vocational Level 1

You must have a mixture of grades E to G at GCSE to study at this level.

Vocational Level 2

You must have two grade D's and two grade E's at GCSE or a relevant level 1 qualification to study at this level.

Vocational Level 3

These courses are equivalent to A levels, you must have at least four GCSE's at grade C or above or a relevant level 2 qualification.

A Levels

A levels are level 3 courses, you must have or expect 5 A-C grades at GCSE level including Maths and English.
Foundation Degree and Degree Our university courses typically require a relevant level 3 qualification or 120 UCAS points.
