Level 3 Diploma Forensic Science

Forensic Science is simply the application of science to the law.

In criminal cases forensic scientists are often involved in the search for and examination of physical traces that might be useful for establishing or excluding an association between someone suspected of committing a crime and the scene of the crime or victim.

This course provides a foundation for those wishing to progress to a career in laboratory science. It aims to develop an appreciation of the competencies, skills and knowledge required for Higher Education and employment in science-based careers.

How will I be assessed?

Through regular assessment and regular feedback, along with one-to-one meetings with your subject tutor.

The course comprises six mandatory and six optional modules. These may include:

  • Fundamentals of science
  • Science practical techniques
  • Forensic evidence collection and analysis
  • Criminal investigation procedures
  • Forensic fire investigation
  • Forensic psychology
