On Saturday 1st July we will be holding an Open Morning for Adult learners. There will be a mixture of tasters to try your hands at.

We offer a range of taster classes, in a range of different subjects for you to choose from - you never know, you may actually want to enrol on a full course with us after!

PEWTER CASTING USING CUTTLE FISH MOULD Monday 3rd July 6 - 8.30pm Station Plaza In this taster session you'll carve a mould from cuttlefish and cast pewter metal into it to create a pendant.
MAKE A FUSED GLASS COASTER Monday 3rd July 6 - 8.30pm Station Plaza This session will give you an introduction to the techniques you'll need to fuse glass into shape and create your own unique coaster.
HAVE A GO AT ADOBE PHOTOSHOP Monday 3rd July 6 - 8.30pm Station Plaza During our Photoshop session we'll give you a taste of the tricks and techniques for editing and creating brilliant images.
HAVE A GO AT ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR Tuesday 4th July 6 - 8.30pm Station Plaza During our Illustrator session we'll give you a taste of the techniques for digital illustration, and creating vector based imagery.
ETCHING: SOFT GROUND Tuesday 4th July 6 - 8.30pm Station Plaza This technique allows you to trace or draw a freehand image onto a plate, which is then etched in chemicals. Once your plate has been 'bitten' you can experiment inking-up in different colours and approaches to create a small body of prints.
MONOPRINT/ LINO PRINT Wednesday 5th July 6 - 8.30pm Station Plaza Learn basic monoprint techniques to create several exciting images.
A STILL LIFE DRAWING INTRODUCTION Wednesday 5th July 6 - 8.30pm Station Plaza Join us for an evening of still life drawing, and try your hand at the relaxing art of drawing experimenting with a range of materials.

Level 2 SAGE Computerised Accounting Thursday 6th July 5 - 6pm Station Plaza During our Sage computerised accounting taster, we'll give you an overview of computerised accounting, outline our part-time qualification and give you the opportunity to input data.
Level 2,3,4 AAT Overview Thursday 6th July 5 - 6pm Station Plaza We'll give you an introduction to all the levels of accounting, starting at Level 2, and working up to Level 4. You'll get a flavour for what is required at each level, and gain an idea of the types of roles and careers on offer to you after the qualification.
HNC/D BUSINESS  Tuesday 4th July 5 - 6pm Station Plaza Come along to our taster session to find out about our Level 4 and 5 qualifications in Business. We'll touch on the key aspects of a business including management, marketing, and human resource; as well as outline a range of new career opportunities available to you after you complete this qualification.

INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE Saturday 1st July 10:00am - 1.30pm Station Plaza Indian head is a relaxing holistic treatment that uses acupressure on the face, head and shoulders. This introductory course is aimed at giving you a gentle feel of how this treatment can be carried out on friends and family.

PLUMBING Tuesday 4th July 6 - 8pm Ore Valley Come along to our plumbing taster session and try your hand at some basic pipework skills including bending and soldering.
CARPENTRY Thursday 6th July 6 - 8pm Ore Valley During our carpentry taster class you'll get hands-on with fitting a hinge and learning some basic joinery techniques.
WELDING Thursday 6th July 6 - 8pm Ore Valley This taster is an introduction to the basics of welding. Beginning with preliminary safety procedures, and then onto how to perform simple welds using TIG, MIG, MAG and MMA welding.
DIY MULTI SKILLS Thursday 6th July 6 - 8pm Ore Valley Want to be able to master DIY tasks at home? Then come along to our DIY Multi Skills class to learn basic techniques in construction and DIY.

TASTER SESSION
Wednesday 5th July 4 - 8.30pm Station Plaza Are you interested in teaching English as a Foreign Language? The Trinity Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL) is a TESOL or TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate designed for those with little or no experience of teaching English. It equips candidates with the basic skills and knowledge needed to take up the first post as an ESOL teacher. It gives an introduction to the theory and practice of English teaching and an insight into the challenges facing the learner and the role of the teacher.
The CertTESOL taster session will give you an outline of the course and a real taste of the course content.

Mind Mapping myself Saturday 1st July 10:00am - 1.30pm Station Plaza This will be an essential skill required for both the End of Life Care course and the Advanced Teaching Assistant course.
Students will be introduced to the concept of Mind Mapping and use simple mind mapping processes to start to identify their current skills, attributes and capabilities as a means of self-assessing their current position and to work towards identifying potential training needs and opportunities.
End of Life Care Tuesday 4th July 5 -6pm Station Plaza This taster is aimed at staff working in a care setting or those learners who wish to work with individuals and families at the end of their lives. It requires learners to be working in a care setting where the end of life care may be required.
Counselling Tuesday 4th July 4 -5pm Station Plaza Our taster session will give you an introduction to counselling skills, designed to allow learners of all abilities to use counselling skills when working with others. Successful completion of the course will allow learners to progress onto higher level counselling courses in order to progress to employment as a counsellor.
Level 4 Supporting Teaching & Learning Tuesday 4th July 4 -5pm Station Plaza This taster course is aimed at learners who have completed a level 3 STALIS qualification and who wish to take more responsibility in the classroom, Learners will be expected to experience working with individuals and small groups as well as gaining essential insight into supporting pupils with special educational needs. Learners must be working in a classroom environment.

This short course will introduce to using a digital audio workstation, to create music and sound design that can be applied to a variety of media in the music and creative industry. You will be able to understand and create sequenced sounds and music, manipulate audio and then mix-down your work as an audio product.

PLANNING FOR PERSONAL FITNESS Wednesday 5th July 4 -5pm Station Plaza Want to get fit? Come along to our taster session and have a go at our fitness class. We'll give you an overview of this short course and motivate you to get fit.
INTRODUCTION TO NUTRITION Wednesday 5th July 4 -5pm Station Plaza Our taster session in nutrition will give you the perfect introduction to healthy eating. You'll look at the 'Eat Well Plate', learn about calories and our daily recommended intake, as well as top tips for healthy living.

Station Plaza Pop along to meet the Subject Leader of teacher training- find out the routes into becoming a teacher in the FE sector.
We offer a choice of qualifications from level 3 - Award in Education to Level 6 PGCE, with the possibility of an L7 top up.
Come and have a go at the latest Promethean Board, and see how easy it is to use ILT in the classroom.
